diane, i really love this rendering. it is so detailed and intricate, looks like it was hard to model. it also looks like a good translation of your sketch into the 3d form. i think that an image like this would make a good focal picture for one of the assignments. nice work
Might be interesting for you to see the difference between this one and the one above. The black vs. colored background makes a huge difference. If the objects float in the air, there will naturally be a kind of surreal quality to the image. The image has a lot of presence because it looks like a science fiction creature (or a duck) floating on an alien landscape.
I am glad to see the images closeup. Consider how you frame them. Centering each one in the frame has a kind of scientific documentation quality. Play with cropping edges, zooming in so that you can adjust where the diagonal edges point towards, etc.
I hope you are getting more control on what is going on.
